Bucher Leads Huskies Past Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE--Andy Bucher (Littlestown/Littlestown) went 2-2 and drove in three runs to lead the Bloomsburg University baseball team to a 10-2 win over Susquehanna University in a non-conference game on Tuesday.
The Huskies (8-15) got all the runs they would need in the first inning when they scored four times on just two hits and three walks. Bloomsburg had already led 2-0 when Bucher came to the plate and doubled home Matt Allen (DuBoistown/South Williamsport) and Kevin Ward (Bristol/Monsignor Ward). Bloomsburg made it 8-0 in the second inning with Vinnie James (Bristol/Bristol) getting an RBI double, Ward a two-run double and Bucher an RBI single.
Bloomsburg added single runs in the third and seventh innings and finished with 13 hits, including four extra base hits.
Along with Bucher's 2-2, Donaven Rodriguez (Manheim/Manheim Central) was 2-3 with four runs scored and Ward 2-5 with two runs scored and two RBI.
Susquehanna (6-10-1) got single runs in the third and sixth innings.
Jonathan Derkits (Bethlehem/ Bethlehem Catholic) earned the win going three innings of relief, allowing one run and striking out four. Bloomsburg will host West Chester on Friday at 1 p.m.
